ANADYNE is now implementing several major improvements for the L-17C. These include
more log stages and log current adjustments, faster rise time, reduced sensitivity of the S+
and S- points to capacitive loading, and the elimination of essentially all decoupling caps,
as well as the need for dual-tracking regulated voltage supplies.
A number of users have expressed interest in a simple circuit which will provide a
temperature-independent clamp, for use as shown in Figs. D1 and D2. Such a circuit is
illustrated below in Fig. D4. Resistor values can be selected to initiate effective clamping
(by setting the slope and flatness of the clamp) at the desired voltage, which should be
made low enough (say about 3.5 volts) to ensure that A1 does not limit prior to clamping.
